Starting Early On The 2020 Year-End Savings Plan Checklist – Part 1:  It’s Best To Check Santa’s List Twice!:

Prior to the holidays, it is best to check one’s retirement, education, and health savings accounts to ensure all benefits are being maximized.  This is annual checklist in three parts.  First, is the checklist for one’s IRAs and other retirement accounts and required minimum distribution (RMDs).  Learn more by reading Starting Early On The 2020 Year-End Savings Plan Checklist – Part 1:  It’s Best To Check Santa’s List Twice!”.  For further information, contact Legend’s James J. Holtzman, CFP® at (412) 635-9210.

Secular Trends Indicate Long-Term Directions:

Secular Trends are long-term investment cycles that typically last for as long as three to five years until as many as 30 to 40 years.  These three major Asset Classes move through periods of Bull and Bear Market Cycles Over Time.  See an informational chart indicating so by reading Secular Trends Indicate Long-Term Directions”.  For further information, contact Legend’s Louis P. Stanasolovich, CFP® at (412) 635-9210.

The Severe Bear Market Of 1973/1974:

Since the end of World War II (1945), the S&P 500 has had three Big Bear Markets that suffered losses of at least 40.0%.  Most individuals are aware of the Severe Bear Markets of 2000 to 2002 as well as 2007 to 2009.  What most don’t recall is the 1973/1974 Severe Bear Market. Learn more by reading The Severe Bear Market Of 1973/1974”.  For further information, contact Legend’s James J. Holtzman, CFP® at (412) 635-9210.

October Volatility:  Is It A Spooky Time For Investors?:

For reasons unknown, October has historically been the most volatile month for the stock market.  By comparison, October 2019 was relatively calm.  Between 1950 and the end of 2017, the S&P 500 Index saw as many as 362 trading days during the month of October in which the market moved up or down more than 1.0%.  That’s 58 more days than the second-most volatile month, August.  Learn more by reading October Volatility:  Is It A Spooky Time For Investors?”.  For further information, contact Legend’s Louis P. Stanasolovich, CFP® at (412) 635-9210.

Are Investors Running Out Of Places To Invest?:

Today, the total number of listed companies on the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ and Amex is:

            New York Stock Exchange:           2,400

            American Stock Exchange:              500

            NASDAQ:                                      3,300

This is due to Mergers & Acquisitions activity, fewer companies wishing to go public, and of course—you guessed it—a record level of corporate share buyback campaigns over the last 10 years.  For further information, contact Legend’s Louis P. Stanasolovich, CFP® at (412) 635-9210.
