Coronacrash: What's Working - What's Not? presented by Louis P. Stanasolovich, CFP®

Wednesday, June 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time Register Now

Thursday, June 4th at Noon Eastern Time Register Now

The Coronacrash began on February 20th.  It fell a total of 34% in four weeks.  The stock market as represented by the S&P 500 has never fallen as steeply in as fast a time.  Initially, very few Asset Classes or Sectors held up during the crash.  Now the stock market's recovery, at least temporarily, is very uneven with some Asset Classes and/or Sectors rising 30% to 50% and others turning in negative performance of -20% to -60%.
What works, what doesn't and why will be covered during the Webcast.

In addition:

  1. The importance of the VIX index will also be discussed and how it can guide investors in terms of understanding what is occurring in the markets.
  2. Why haven't most interest generating investments (Bonds, Bank Loans, Mortgage Products) produced positive returns will be discussed as well.
  3. The importance of playing defense will be discussed in depth and what types of investments.
  4. Why Gold now?
  5. Will the stock market go into a Relapse?
  6. Will the U.S. Economy go into a Depression or Great Depression?

Registration is free.  Please feel free to invite relatives, friends, colleagues, etc. to attend.

Exchange-Traded Funds (or ETFs) have advanced the world of investing.  Their popularity has exploded in recent years.  Some of the reasons why are: they are inexpensive (many are, but some aren’t), income tax-efficient (equities are, but bonds are not), and now there are more than 2,200 to choose from.  The popularity of ETFs can in part be associated with the recent rise in popularity of index investing.  Index investing has a long history dating back to the mid-1970s.  There have been indexed mutual funds for over 45 years.  ETFs, which until recently, mainly tracked only the more popular indexes.  Over the last several years, countries, regions, commodities, currencies, bonds as well as leveraged and inverse (short) types of ETFs have become available in ETF format.  More recent developments include ETFs based upon smart beta, different slices of indexes (fundamental investing) equally-weighted indexes, sector indexes and actively managed ETFs.  Learn more by reading The Importance Of Liquidity”.  For further information, contact Legend’s Lou Stanasolovich, CFP® at (412) 635-9210.

Tax-loss harvesting (Also known as Income Tax-Loss Harvesting), or strategically taking investment losses to offset income, which is being mentioned in the press almost daily in recent years, is a perfectly legal maneuver that doesn’t eliminate substantial amounts of income and/or capital gains taxes as it does delay them.  Delaying for sometimes as long as decades is valuable because investors earn a return while Uncle Sam waits to get paid.

One financial planning recommendation that everyone should perform is to conduct a home inventory every couple of years, which is a daunting task to say the least!  Fortunately, there is a company to perform the work for individuals, although it is a good idea to seek out other vendors to compare services.  Learn more by reading Appraising One’s Valuables”.  For further information, contact Legend’s Lou Stanasolovich, CFP® at (412) 635-9210.

The security of a bank safe-deposit box differs from a bank account because safe-deposit boxes are not Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insured.  Box rental contracts outline what will and will not be covered and the damages covered range between banks.  It is important for individuals to check their homeowner’s insurance policy to see whether it covers the contents of their safe-deposit boxes.  Learn more by reading Are Safe-Deposit Boxes Really Safe?”.  For further information, contact Legend’s James J. Holtzman, CFP® at (412) 635-9210.

Many professional investors, including those at Legend Financial Advisors, Inc.®, are skeptical of the Bitcoin Currency and other similar currencies.  These currencies have received a great deal of press over the last few years and probably will the next few years as well.

So far, there has not been any realistic way to invest in Bitcoin or similar currencies.  Many investment sponsors have been seeking approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to offer Exchange-Traded Funds (ETF), Limited Partnerships and Exchange-Traded Notes (ETN) but have been turned down.  However, these cryptocurrencies are only a few years away at most before coming to reality.  Remember!  Buyer Beware!
